Available on the Ground Floor of the Central Library
- Novels, in hardback and paperback, including popular and classical material, new and standard works.
- Books on sports and biographies.
- Large Print Books. If you have difficulty reading normal sized print, we have a collection of fiction and non-fiction books with very large print.
- Spoken Word tapes and CDs, including novels and biographies. (Charges may apply)
- Newspapers and recreational magazines, including a selection in community languages.
- Books in Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Punjabi, Urdu, Telegu, Chinese and Vietnamese, including reference material covering a wide variety of subjects in these languages.
- Asian language videos & DVDs. (Charges may apply)
- Picture books, stories, CD-ROMs, information and reference books for children aged 0-12 years.
- Count me in 1-2-3
- A collection of books of African Caribbean interest on a variety of subjects. This display is changed regularly and is a small selection of the broad range of material available throughout the Central Library.
- Story cassettes for children in English and Asian languages.
- Books in Asian languages for children.
- Books in foreign languages (e.g. French, German, Spanish) for children.
- Toys to play with in the library.
- A Parents Collection including books on childcare, activities for children, child illnesses and problems.
- A teenage collection, including fiction, a wide variety of information books on topics of interest, including careers, skills, relationships and music.
- A regular storytime for children; please enquire at the Ground Floor Help Desk.
- An Adult Literacy section, including lifeskills, basic maths and English.
- Holiday activities for children.
