Nottingham Central Library Update - 8th September 2008
Nottingham Central Library is now fully open to the public; some services and floors had been unavailable due to flood damage but full access has now been restored to all parts.

Stock and services on Floor 3 of the Central Library
Floor 3 focuses on humanities and the arts; a wide range of books and other materials from Key Stage 3 to adult for leisure, formal study and life-long learning. Carrels and tables are provided for quiet study. Friendly help is always available from staff at our Help Desk.
- 'Read in your language' collection of fiction in Middle Eastern and European languages including Arabic, Farsi, French, Spanish and Polish. Spoken word cassettes in Polish are also available.
- Family history materials - records on CD-ROM (including National Burial Index 2nd edition, Soldiers Died in the Great War and Army Roll of Honour - World War II) and books and magazines on general and specialist aspects of tracing your family - as of September 8th 2008 this material has now moved to Floor 4, Local Studies Library.
- Play sets - for use by drama groups
- Reference books - general encyclopedias and specialised reference books on the arts and humanities. A huge range of electronic resources is available free to library members via our website in the library or from home.
- Spoken word cassettes and CDs - including poetry, plays, speeches and sound effects. Charges may apply. You may also find the effects you need on one of these specialist websites.
- Language courses on cassette and CD - most European and many world languages. Charges may apply
- Maps and atlases - a wide range of Ordnance Survey and foreign maps and atlases, for loan and reference use
- Broadsheet daily and Sunday newspapers and limited back files
- Newspapers on microfilm - Times, Guardian and Sunday Times
- Magazines on the arts and humanities - including limited back files
- Internet and word processing service for public use
- CD Search service - access to full text sources on CD-ROM including newspapers and business information
- Clearview Spectrum Machine - allows magnification of print in books, magazines and other materials.
