Riverside Festival a Huge Success
Over 120,000 visitors entered the Riverside Festival through the bustling street fair to be greeted by a vibrant mix of live music, crafts and food stalls from around the global.
Highlights of the 2008 festival included performances from the Laye Sow Band, Transglobal Underground and Grupo Fantasma, and an outdoor cinema in association with Heart 106. The launch of the brand new Nottingham Children's Festival also took place with a photocall session featuring 'The 99th Imperial Guard Star Wars characters'.
Excellent weather saw families soaking up the atmosphere that was filled with good music, food, fairground rides, arts zone workshops, street theatre and a display of traditional Old Tyme Gallopers, Traction & Steam Engines and Old Tyme Organs.
The breathtaking fireworks on Saturday night did not disappoint the large crowd that had gathered on banks of the River Trent to watch the magical display of light and colour. The annual charity duck race on Sunday afternoon had Festival visitors lining Victoria Embankment anxious to see which duck would win race.
