As a City Council we appreciate the commitment of our workforce. That’s why we want to acknowledge the contribution our employees make – and to formally thank those who Go the Extra Mile.

The GEM scheme is all about saying thank you. It’s a way of acknowledging the excellence and contribution of those who regularly Go the Extra Mile to improve the working day for their colleagues and to make a real difference to customer service.

There are a number of ways that GEM acknowledges excellence and contribution including:

●Departmental awards
●Corporate awards

Anyone can nominate an employee for a GEM award – whether they be a customer, a colleague or a manager.

Individuals and teams from across the council were applauded for their efforts in Going the Extra Mile at our second GEM Employee Awards evening at the Council House last March preparations are now under way for the next celebration evening in April 08.  If you have been invited to this event you can confirm your place online.
