Advice Strategies ;

In 2000, as part of the Best Value Review of the Welfare Rights Service a mapping exercise was carried out of the need for various sorts of advice services. This was mapped by wards across both the City of Nottingham and the Greater Nottingham conurbation. This was compared with information gathered from agencies to show the residential origin, ethnic background and nature of advice sought. Nineteen agencies from the public and not for profit sectors in the City of Nottingham participated in this research.

The report - "Advice Services in Nottingham - An Analysis of need and supply" - was published. This included full colour maps and graphs showing service user residential location and nature of enquiry. A few copies of this report are still available.

Best Value Review of the Social Services Welfare Rights Service 5th July 2001

In 2005 it was decided to commission a further review of advice provision in Nottingham. This was to look at funding of advice services, advice capacity, quality of advice and equality issues. This was with a view to developing a long term strategy for advice services in Nottingham.

Michael Ball Associates (MBA) were commissioned to carry out this work. The resultant report "A Strategy for Advice Services in Nottingham", was published in September 2005. A copy of this report is available here.
