Occupational therapy is about assisting disabled people of all ages to be as independent as possible in their everyday lives. We can offer you an assessment to assist you in carrying out everyday tasks in your own home, for example
- Dressing and personal hygiene
- Getting to the toilet
- Getting on/off a chair or in/out of bed.
- Preparing a meal or drink for yourself.
At the same time, if you have a carer, we can offer them advice in the best way to assist you.
We can offer advice and guidance, for example:
- Working with you to find a new way of doing a task
- Providing specialist equipment such as a mobile hoist
- Providing minor adaptations such as grab rails
- Arranging major adaptations such as ramps or stair lifts
- Passing on your details to other services which may help you
We can help you if:
- You live in the Nottingham City area
- You have a permanent and substantial physical impairment
- You have substantial problems in several areas of your daily life
- You are caring for someone who is disabled and are experiencing difficulties
