Did You Know?
If you are deaf or hard of hearing, and are also blind or partially sighted, you have a right to:

• An assessment of your needs as a deaf/ hard of hearing and blind/partially sighted person
• Registration as a deaf/hard of hearing and blind/partially sighted person
• Advice about services, information and equipment to meet your needs.

Following the assessment, the Team may recommend services and specialist equipment.

What do we do?

The aim of the Team is to support people with a visual and hearing impairment who live in the Nottingham City area.

The Team will work in people’s homes and local communities to help people have more access to and participate in society and community life.

What can the Team do for you?

The Team can provide a variety of services:

Advice and Information
This includes support with mobility, communication needs and assistance with access to any benefits that you may be entitled to.

Support with Daily Living Tasks
Support can be offered around safety issues in relation to making hot drinks, preparing meals, fire safety within the home, etc.

Equipment Loan Service
The Team has a small sample of specialist equipment that can be issued on loan for a limited period, to ensure that it is suitable before purchasing.

How Can I Receive This Service?

Anyone with a significant hearing and visual loss can be referred to the Team.

Once initial contact details have been obtained, the Team will arrange to visit you at home, to give you advice and information.

If you are not sure if you are eligible for this service, then please contact the Team for further advice.

What Happens Next?

For the Team to establish the type of support that you need, we will ask you, your family or carers and friends for help in completing an assessment.
