Day Care
This is provided in a variety of locations, including space set aside in residential and nursing homes, in units attached to those homes or in purpose-built or other premises such as community centres.
Whatever the setting, the aims are the same – to offer rehabilitation, interesting activities, recreation and companionship. Carers may also benefit for a break from caring.
Most day care is available on weekdays (sometimes at weekends too), usually from about 10.30am to 3.30pm with lunch and other refreshments provided. Transport is provided by Adult Services in its own vehicles, specially hired taxis or volunteer drivers.
Like home care, day care is an assessed service, so first contact has to be with the Adult Services office. How often a person attends, and for how long, will depend upon the assessment.
Day Care may be provided by Adult Services or we may arrange and pay for services provided by other agencies.
