Information about social care services

Nottingham City Council Adult Services works to support:

We aim to offer advice and assistance to enable people to continue living independently in their local communities with families, friends and relatives for as long as they are able. This includes support for those caring for others.

There are many demands on our services and some people will need help sooner than others. We give priority to adults whose physical safety, physical health or mental health is at risk.

Much of what we can (and cannot) do is laid down in law. Sometimes the law says we have to get involved with your family even if you do not want us to – for example, to protect older people we believe are at risk.

Adult Services provides some services directly, but we also arrange and pay for services by other agencies. We work closely with the Health Service, housing agencies, other departments such as Education, and with the many voluntary and private organisations in the City. This ensures that everyone – whatever their ability, or religious, cultural or social background – has access to the best possible choice of services for their needs.

These are some of the services we may be able to arrange or provide for you. It is not intended to be a complete list, as services may change depending on the budgets available.
