National Carers Week: 9th June – 15th June 2008
Adult
Services, Housing and Health would like to recognise the hard work of unpaid carers of Nottingham City.
These carers give many hours of their own time, often with little support. A carer can be someone who
is caring for a family member, friend or neighbour without receiving a reward.
Nationally,
local authorities are recognizing the hard work of unpaid carers through the National Carers Week campaign
which is to be held during the 9th – 15th June 2008.
Adult Services in Nottingham
city would also like to highlight the hard work of unpaid carers by holding an event on the 10th June
2008 at the Council House, 10:30AM – 2:30PM. The theme of the event is promoting carers’ health and
wellbeing. We will be introducing the following initiatives:
- Sports
and Leisure Activities
- Health and Inequalities of Carers
- Introducing
Draft Carers Strategy 2008 – 2011, to be consulted on.
- Carers Information Folder
- Carers Emergency Card
- Information on Self-directed Support
- Information
on The Mental Capacity Act and the implications for carers, plus information on Carers Services
in Nottingham city.
