Healthcare and social care are important public services that all of us need at some time during our lives

The National Health Service, through hospitals and other healthcare trusts, provides treatment, services and advice to people who are ill or have had an accident, and to help them stay healthy.

Social care covers a wide range of services and support provided by local authorities and other organisations to help the most vulnerable people in society live as independently as possible.

In Nottingham, the responsibility to provide social care services rests mainly with Nottingham City Council. We support people of all ages who may need personal care either at home or in another setting because they are old, frail, disabled or have mental health problems.

We also provide services for children and their families, including children who are in need or at risk of harm, disabled children and those who, for whatever reason, cannot live with their own family.
