Children’s Play Areas

There are 133 Children’s Play Areas that are maintained by Street Scene + 1 outside the city boundary (Newstead Abbey maintained by Heritage).

There is a maintenance person dedicated to keeping the equipment in a serviceable condition to the Health and Safety and European Standard EN 1176.

Some of the large parks are locked at night to maintain the security of the buildings.  All others are left unlocked as this is currently council policy.  Some of the parks are locked at all times due to vandalism and over a period of time these will have all equipment and hard surfaces removed to make an open space play area.
