Graffiti

Graffiti is a major slight on the environment. It looks unsightly and cause offence. It makes an area look run down and contributes to the perception that a place is unsafe. The Council has a number of teams that operate throughout the city removing and painting over graffiti.

  • We will remove offensive graffiti (racist, sexually explicit, abusive or names an individual) within 24 hours of being reported
  • Other graffiti in public places will be removed as soon as possible
  • If the graffiti is on private property we will liaise with the owners to remove it. There may be a charge for this but racist or offensive material will be removed for free.
