The
brown bin scheme
Garden waste and cardboard, plastics, cans and tins is collected in
a brown bin with a brown lid and the recyclable waste bin in a brown
bin with a grey lid. So far this
year homes with the brown bins have achieved a recycling rate of 39%. The highest performing areas are
recycling more than 50% of their household waste. Well done!
9,000 households across the city have been added to the brown
bin scheme
recently and other areas will be added soon. This will bring the number of properties receiving the
brown bin collection to just over half the city. For more information about exactly where this scheme
will operate please telephone the Recycling Hotline on 915 2126, visit the brown bin page,
or complete the online form.
If you have three bins, they will be collected on alternate weeks. One
week the green bin for household waste will be collected and the next week your
brown bin with brown lid and
your brown bin with grey lid will be collected.
