Recyclable Household Waste - Brown bin with grey lid

What items you can / cannot put in a brown bin with a grey lidWe will collect recycling and composting one week and the rest of your waste the following week.

Please note:

  • Collections dates in the City may vary so please check with the Council if you are unsure.

  • Your brown bin may be emptied earlier than on green bin weeks so please ensure that your brown bin is out by 6.30am on the morning of your collection.

Your bin should be at the kerbside for collection by 6:30am with the lid closed. If your bin is not at the kerbside your bin cannot be emptied. Please make sure that your bins are put out no earlier than eight hours before the day of collection or left out any more than eight hours after the collection. Leaving bins on the street causes a hazard for people with visual or mobility impairment and puts you in danger of becoming a victim of identity theft. Ultimately, you can be fined for leaving your bin on the street.

Blue bag collections will stop in areas using the brown bins scheme - all paper can be placed in the grey lidded bin.

Missed collection

If you find your bin has not been emptied this week, please let us know by completing the online form and we will make arrangements to collect your bin as soon as possible.

If any of your bins gets damaged or stolen and you need it repaired or replacing please report it to us.
