Provides a statutory service regulating commercial and residential activities giving rise to pollution of the air, contaminated land and noise.
We pro-actively participate in regeneration strategy and development and assess Planning Applications and Building Regulations Applications to ‘design out’ environmental problems.
We are also a 'Responsible Authority' with respect to the Licensing Act 2003 and make representations to Licensing Panel when noise from premises causes 'Public Nuisance'.
The Team's work also includes monitoring and sampling of the environment to evaluate problems, establish trends, assist land remediation and providing advice and information on aspects of the work whilst contributing to the implementation of the Local Agenda 21 process.
The Team is also responsible for co-ordinating City Developments emergency planning role and responsibilities, including business continuity
During 2005 over 5000 Service requests were received and dealt with.
The Service Manager for the Noise & Pollution Control team is Barrie James.
