07/05/08: Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS) - Consultation Draft
The City Council's Portfolio Holder for Neighbourhood Regeneration approved planning guidance for Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS) as a consultation draft for wider consultation on 7th May 2008. The guidance will be used as an adjunct to the existing statutory policy base at national, regional and local level until replaced by planning policies in the emerging Core Strategy.To view the document click here. 01/05/08: Canal Conservation Area Appraisal and Management Plan
Following the public consultation process the Conservation Area Appraisal and Management Plan, prepared to guide new development within the Conservation Area, were reported to the Development Control Committee on 19th March 2008. The documents were approved by the Committee with some minor amendments and are now available to view on-line. For more information click here
07/04/08: Planning Application Fee Increase
The fees for planning applications (set nationally by the Government) have been increased, with effect from 6 April 2008. The headline changes are that the previous £135 fee has been increased to £170 (except for householder applications, for which the new fee is £150), the £265 fee has been increased to £335, and the maximum fees have been increased significantly. 29/01/08: Eastcroft Incinerator - appeal by Waste Recycling Group Ltd
Waste Recycling Group (WRG), the operators of Eastcroft Incinerator, have lodged an appeal in connection with the planning application they submitted in August 2007 to expand the energy from waste facility. For more information click here
24/01/08: Forthcoming changes to planning application forms
Nottingham City Council will shortly be introducing revised planning application forms as part of the phased introduction of 1APP, the new national standard form. For more information click here
24/01/08: Nottingham Express Transit Phase Two - Open Space/Exchange Land Notice
As part of the Transport and Works Act procedures associated with NET Phase Two, land currently used as open space will need to be acquired. It is proposed to make alternative land available for public use by way of exchange. The promoting authorities (Nottingham City Council and Nottinghamshire County Council) have been directed by the Secretary of State to give public notice of the Secretary of State's intention to issue a Certificate under Section 19(1)(a) of the Acquisition of Land Act 1981. 18/07/07: Sustainability Seminar
The planners in City Development hosted the latest in their series of lunchtime sustainability seminars at the Council House on 18th July when Keith Von Tersch from the Energy Saving Trust led a workshop on how planners can help meet the ten per cent target for renewable energy in housing. 23/05/07: Renewable Energy Requirement Adopted
At the meeting on 22 May 2007 the Council's Executive Board adopted a requirement for all substantial new developments to provide 10% of their energy requirements from renewable sources. Click here for more information.

20/03/07: Family Housing element of The Building Balanced Communities Supplementary Planning Document quashed

16/02/07: Statement of Community Involvement Inspectors Report
Following the examination of the Submission Draft Statement of Community Involvment the City Council has received the report of the Planning Inspector. The recommendations made by the Inspector are binding upon the City Council and it is now proposed to make the necessary amendments put forward by the Inspector before taking the Statement of Community Involvement to a meeting of Full Council for adoption in June 2007. 23/12/06: Submission of the Annual Monitoritng Report 2006
The Annual Monitoring Report (AMR) monitors and assesses the Council’s progress with the Local Development.Framework against the timetable set out in the Local Development Scheme. 27/10/06: Submission Draft Statement of Community Involvement
Following approval by the City Council on the 26th June 2006, The City Council formally submitted the Statement of Community Involvement to the Secretary of State on Monday 7th August 2006 for independent examination. The council then undertook a six week consultation period which is now closed. Following a request by one respondent to be heard at examination a hearing has been arranged for 12th December 2006. 20/10/06: Appeal Lodged Against Eastcroft Incinerator Expansion Refusal
An appeal has been lodged against the Council's decision to refuse planning permission for the expansion of the Eastcroft Incinerator. For more information click here.
18/10/06: Meadows and Southside Area Action Plan
The City Council's Executive Board have agreed the Submission Draft Meadows and Southside Area Action Plan on 17th October. The Plan will now be submitted to Full Council after which a six week period of formal public consultation will take place.

30/08/06: Mapperley Park And Alexandra Park Conservation Area Management Plan And Public Meeting
A draft Management Plan has been prepared to guide new development within the Conservation Area, and a public meeting to discuss the Plan will take place on Wednesday 18th October at 7.00 pm in St Augustine's School Hall, on Park Avenue, off Mapperley Road.

10/08/06: Design and Access Statements
From 10 August 2006 new rules aimed at improving the design of new developments have come into force, requiring nearly all planning applications to be accompanied by a Design and Access Statement. For more information click here.
7/6/06: Consultation on Park Conservation Plan

23/05/06: Broadmarsh Centre Compulsory Purchase Order Confirmed
The Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government has confirmed the Compulsory Purchase Order (CPO) for the acquisition of the land necessary to facilitate the extension of the Broadmarsh shopping centre. The CPO was submitted to the Secretary of State in 2003, and outline planning permission for the expansion and remodelling of the centre was granted in 2004 (view application details here). A public inquiry to consider objections to the CPO was held in October last year.

24/03/06: Open Space Supplementary Planning Guidance Updated
The Supplementary Planning Guidance 'Open Space in New Residential Development' sets out the Council's policy on the provision of open space and details expected levels of financial contribution where open space is not provided on site. 05/12/05: Planning and the New Licensing Laws
The new licensing laws which came into effect on 24 November 2005 control how licensees run their premises. Many licensed premises are also subject to planning controls, and if you own or operate licensed premises you need to be aware of any planning restrictions which may apply. 29/11/05: Nottingham Local Plan November 2005 Adopted
The Nottingham Local Plan Review was adopted by Nottingham City Council on 28th November 2005. It is now called the ‘Nottingham Local Plan’.A notice of adoption will be advertised in the London Gazette and the Nottingham Evening Post on 2nd December, and on 9th December, 2005. There is a six week period following the first publication of the notice for any person who is aggrieved by the Plan and wishes to challenge its validity to apply to the High Court to have the Plan or part of the Plan quashed. 11/10/05: Broad Marsh Redevelopment Compulsory Purchase Order
A Public Inquiry into the Broad Marsh Redevelopment Compulsory Purchase Order (CPO) is being held in Nottingham. It starts on 11th October 2005 at 10am. The venue is the Britannia Hotel, 1 St James' Street in the city centre. The Public Inquiry, where objections to the CPO will be heard, is likely to last two - three weeks.
