Other Language Exam Papers
We are now able to provide exam papers in languages other than English. If you wish to have an exam paper in another language when you attend the course just indicate on the enrolment form, however you should note the course will be taught in English.
Languages available: Traditional Chinese; Simplified Chinese; Polish; Portugese; Turkish; Thai; Bengali; Urdu; Spainish; Lithuanian.
CIEH Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering
The CIEH Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering qualification has been developed to address the new national occupational standards in food safety and recent changes in food safety legislation.
National occupation standards are statements of the skills, knowledge and understanding expected from employees by employers and the industry. Level 2 qualifications are aimed at these in the work place who participate in activities related to the subject area. In the case of food safety that means every employee involved in the handling of food.
Previous foundation food hygiene certificates are still valid so don’t worry.
The course focuses on the four C’s – chilling, cooking, cleaning and cross contamination as well as food safety management systems for food businesses.
Qualification Information:
- Designed for: all food handlers
- Course duration: 6 hours minimum
- Assessment method:30 multiple choice questions (20 out of 30 achieves a pass)

The Food Safety Team at Nottingham City Council runs Level 2 Award courses every month. All courses are taught by fully qualified, experienced Environmental Health Officers so you can be confident that you will get quality training. Our officers have many years experience to share with students with many examples of good and bad practice.
All courses are taught in English, but we may able to provide materials in other languages if requested at the time of enrolment.
The areas covered by the course include:
- food safety hazards
- chilling
- cooking
- pest control
- personal hygiene
- premises, and equipment
- the law
At the end of the course there is a multiple-choice test of 30 questions. All successful candidates who achieve a minimum pass rate of 20 correct answers will be awarded a nationally recognised certificate.
The cost per person is £60. Check the course timetable for available dates.

Please note the following:
Cheques should be made payable to 'Nottingham City Council'. The enrolment form and course fee must be sent at least 10 days prior to the date of the course.
Once we have received a sufficient number of enrolments for the course to go ahead, full course joining details will be sent to you. If we do not receive sufficient enrolments for the course to go ahead, we will contact you one week before the start date of the course.
If you wish to cancel or transfer to another course within 10 days of the course date, a 50% cancellation fee will be charged.
If you fail to attend a course you have booked a 100% cancellation fee will be charged.
