Energy Efficiency in Your Home
The
Home Energy Conservation Act (HECA) was passed to ensure that councils promote energy efficiency measures
to their residents.
Nottingham City Council's Housing Energy team has
been established to promote, implement and monitor energy efficiency improvements to homes in the City,
whether they are council houses, privately-owned houses or the homes of people who rent privately.
Nottingham
is currently on course to meet the target set by HECA of a 30 per cent reduction in 15 years (between
1996 and 2011), having reduced it's domestic energy consumption as a city by 17.8 per cent by April
2004.
Grants, subsidies and special schemes are available covering a
wide range of measures such as cavity wall, solid wall and loft insulation, super efficient boilers
and solar measure.
There are also free low energy lightbulbs available
to anyone receiving a benefit and for many households receiving a Tax Credit. Call the number below
to see if you qualify. Energy-efficient measures, particularly insulation and boilers, can significantly
reduce gas and electricity bills.
Check out if you qualify for these
measures by using the menu on the left.
