Caravan sites require a licence issued by Nottingham City Council to ensure that there are adequate provisions for facilities such as drainage, a clean drinking water supply and sufficient fire precautions in place to deal with any incident relating to fire.

The site licence places duties on the site owners.

Caravan sites are inspected regularly. Before any licence can be granted, the site must have planning permission.

The public health team also deal with unauthorised encampments of caravans.
