Dangerous structures / walls

Image of a dangerous wallPublic Health officers can take action on loose slates or tiles, aerials or glass falling onto private gardens, alleyways etc., dangerous chimneys and dilapidated walls to shared alleyways.

If the problem is a wall or fence between two properties, this is a private matter between the two owners, but if you are a tenant and your landlord has refused to get involved, please contact public health.

The Public Health team can often deal with imminently dangerous structures very quickly. However, dilapidated walls in shared alleys take longer to resolve, as responsibility will often rest with all those who have access to the alleyway.

Dangerous walls or structures affecting the public i.e. on roads, pavements or twitchells, should be reported to the Dangerous Structures Team on 0115 9158130
