Admissions survey 2007 & 2008 – transfer to secondary school process
The Admissions and Exclusion Team is aware that the process of applying for a secondary school place and moving up to secondary school can be a stressful time for some parents and carers so the Team is continually looking at ways to make the application process easier.
In March 2007 a questionnaire was sent out to 300 parents and carers who had applied for a secondary school place to get their views on the process and how they thought it could be improved in the future. A follow-up survey was carried out in March 2008. The surveys had a response rate of 39% and 35% respectively.
The survey was separated into 3 main areas:
- the application process (application form, on line and Going to School in Nottingham prospectus)
- schools applied for (what influenced preferences etc); and
- information for parents and carers (closing date literature, Choice Advice Service etc)
