The title may be unpronounceable, but the job of the Hospital and Home Education Pupil Referral Unit (HHEPRU) is easy to explain. We are there to make sure that school-age children can carry on with their education if they are unable to attend school on medical grounds.

We have three education bases – one at the Queen’s Medical Centre, one at the City Hospital  and one at Thorneywood – and a ‘pupil referral unit’ for pregnant teenagers and young mothers. The Home Education Service also comes under the HHEPRU umbrella.
