Data Protection Act 1998 – Fair Processing Notice (FPN)

Information held on pupils and its disclosure to "third parties"

A number of organisations including schools and the Local Authority process information about pupils in order to run the education and social care systems. In processing information, all these organisations have to comply with the Data Protection Act 1998. This means, among other things, that the data held about pupils, must only be used for specific purposes allowed by law.

To meet requirements imposed by the Data Protection Act 1998, schools distribute a "fair processing notice" to parents/carers. The documents below provide additional information about the processing of pupil data and also the contact details of the organisations referred to in the notice.
