their own children.

and in other areas of their lives.
The team is responsible for maintaining joint working initiatives with Social Services,
Schools and other agencies that have direct contact with Children Looked After. The team has strong
links with the Social Services Department; the joined-up working between the departments helps the team
carry out their functions effectively, Working with Social Services is a primary function of the Achievement
team; as the corporate parents Social Services work closely with the team over issues such as school
placements, or advice on homework support.
“Our work centres on raising the aspirations of Children
Looked After. Our ultimate target as a team is to ensure that all children leaving care achieve in-line
with their peers and that they are able to maximise their life chances through their academic achievements
and experiences.”
