An earlier round of consultations surrounding the BSF programme took place in March 2006 and examined four possible options. The four-week consultation included three meetings for each school and there was also a series of drop-in sessions where Education Department staff were available to answer questions and listen to views.

This consultation has now ended and recommended the federation of Haywood Comprehensive with Big Wood Business and Enterprise College, with Haywood closing once major building work at Big Wood is complete.
The consultation also recommended the federation of Fairham Community College with Farnborough School Technology College from the end of summer term 2007. Fairham would then close once major building work at Farnborough is complete two years later.
