Education and learning affects us all and is key to our future.
As one of the most important responsibilities of Nottingham City Council, its Children's Services department works with almost 120 schools across the City, including:
- 93 primary schools;
- 18 secondary schools - one of which is an academy and 9 have specialist status;
- 6 special schools; and
- 4 pupil referral units
The Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme is a government initiative at improving every aspect of teaching and learning, as well as providing integrated services to families and pupils so they can take full advantage of the educational opportunities available. In Nottingham, BSF will mean an initial investment of over £89m to create better schools to learn and teach in.
The overall aim of all educational services is to help children and young people enjoy their education and to achieve well. Raising educational standards is part of this.
