Nottingham City Council is a democratic organisation, with 55 councillors representing
electors in the 20 electoral wards in the City of Nottingham. There is a local election every four years
when all 55 seats are contested. Councillors hold regular surgeries in their constituencies to which
members of the public are invited to attend if they have a particular concern which they feel their
local councillor can help them with. Times, dates and venues of ward surgeries are listed here.

If you live in The North East of the City Centre or to the East of it
chances are you live in St Ann’s Ward. The Ward boundary runs along North Sherwood Street, Upper Parliament
Street, Southwell Road, Sneinton Road, cuts across the back of Windmill Lane Estate, Round the Mounds
and then along Marmion Road, Thorneywood Rise, St Bartholomews Road (Donkey Hill), Ransom Road, Along
the bottom of Hungerhill allotments, up Hungerhill Road, Down Woodborough Road, Along Cranmer Street,
Down Elm Avenue and Back to North Sherwood Street.
You can see that it takes in part of the City Centre, the Corner House
Sector as well as Victoria Shopping Centre, stretches up Mansfield Road and takes in most of what many
people think of St Ann’s, but not Brewster’s Road Estate, Pearmain Drive Estate and Kingsthorpe. Also
Sneinton Elements is within the ward.
Because of its proximity to the City centre it has some very popular
housing for sale. Because of the age of its Council Housing it has some difficulties due to Estate Design.
People originally from the Caribbean and from Kashmir have chosen to
make their homes in the ward alongside a long standing White Population and the mix creates a
vibrant and multicultural atmosphere.
Despite its reputation and even though it has one of the highest Deprivation
Indices in the country, many people would not even consider moving out of the area and enjoy the pubs,
clubs, social centres both in the area and in the nearby City Centre.
It probably has more Housing Complexes for older people than any other
ward in the city, has n increasing number of Owner Occupiers and through The Renewal Trust people are
working hard to improve the area provide more jobs and to attract more people to come and live in the
best ward and most vibrant ward in the City of Nottingham.
