What is CPA?

CPA is the Audit Commission’s annual Comprehensive Performance Assessment of the Local Authorities. It results in an overall rating of between 0 and 4 stars.

“CPA is about helping local councils improve services for their communities” (Audit Commission). Central Government want quality public services throughout England.

The CPA rating is determined by an annual assessment of performance in key services, an appraisal of our Use of Resources and the Corporate Assessment and Joint Area Review of Childrens’ Services that are carried out every three years.  Our Corporate Assessment (CA) and Joint Area Review (JAR) took place in March 2007. The insepction reports can be accessed by clicking the links below:

The annual rating for the council consists of two components; a ‘Star’ rating indicating the level of service that we provide and a statement of the Direction of Travel to indicate the rate at which the Council is improving.
