Welcome to the Nottingham City Council 24-hour secure Internet payments service. You may make a variety of payments using this secure site with most major credit or debit cards.

In order to continue, your browser must support high encryption. Please check that your current connection is at least 128 bits. If you are unsure please check the paragraph at the foot of this page.

NEW - Verified by Visa and MasterCard Secure Code

MasterCard SecureCodeAs you progress with your payment, a page may appear inviting you to register for MasterCard Secure Code or Verified by Visa.

Verified by VisaThis is a new service provided by your card issuer that gives added protection when you buy online using a personal password chosen by you.

Once Registered, every time you pay online, a box pops up from your card issuer asking you for your personal password or a selection of random characters from your password. In seconds, your card issuer confirms it's you and allows your payment to be completed.

The content of these pages is controlled by your card issuer and not the council. All communication is between you and your card issuer and your password information is never shared with the Council or any other merchant. If you want to know more about this service please refer to your Card Issuers WebSite.

Security Information

Your transaction will take place within a secure payment system. We use Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology, a standard supported by most major Internet browsers. All of your personal and card details are protected using 128 bit encryption when transmitted over the Internet and your card details are stored behind a secure firewall. Only authorised personnel may access this information.

A new browser window will open and we will transfer you to the secure server where you will be able to make your payment. The payment server is operated by Capita Software Services, one of the leading providers of services to the public sector.

You will also see a small yellow padlock on the bottom right of your screen if you are using Internet Explorer, or a key if you are using Netscape.

This site uses 128 bit encryption and you should make sure your browser supports this as the page will not load if it does not. If, while loading the page, you see an error message or page cannot be found then your browser does not support 128 bit encryption and you may need to upgrade your security to 128 bit.

Finding your browser's encryption level

To check if your browser supports 128 bit encryption,  you should follow these instructions:

If you use Internet Explorer:
On the menu bar click 'Help' then 'About Internet Explorer'. There should be a reference to the Cipher Strength. If it is less than 128 bit, click on the 'Update Information' link to download the Internet Explorer High Encryption pack.

If you use Netscape:
Click on the security padlock in the right-hand corner of your browser. The Personal Security Manager should display a message in the centre of the page stating 'Connection Encrypted' and the encryption level. If this is below 128 bit, upgrade to the latest version of Netscape at Netscape Products.
