Statutory Register of Members' Interests
Introduction
by the Monitoring Officer
Under the Local Government Act 2000, all
Councillors have to sign a declaration to abide by and uphold the City Council's Code of Conduct for
Members. A copy of this can be found in the Constitution under Appendix 6 (A) (along with other Protocols and
related Guidance). A copy of the Code of Conduct for Members may be viewed by ‘clicking’ here. Under the Code all councillors are required to register various interests.
The
Director of Legal Services and Projects, as the City Council's Monitoring Officer, has to maintain the
Register of Members’ Interests that have been brought to his attention. Councillors are obliged, by law, to keep their registration up-to-date and to inform the Monitoring
Officer of any changes within 28 days of the relevant event. A Councillor's failure to register interests can be the subject of a complaint to the Standards Board
for England (www.standardsboard.co.uk).
A
copy of the up-to-date Statutory Register of Members Interests can be inspected, free of charge, at
Corporate Services, The Guildhall, Burton Street, Nottingham, NG1 4BT during normal office hours. A small
fee will be payable if a copy is required.
In
keeping with the Council's e-governance agenda, the Monitoring Officer has placed an electronic copy
of the Register of each Members’ Interests on the website and these records may be viewed
by ‘clicking’ here
This electronic copy is not the Statutory Register
although every effort will be taken to ensure that the electronic copy continues to match the Statutory
Register of Members' Interests kept at the address above.
