Nottingham City Council is a democratic organisation, with 55 councillors representing
electors in the 20 electoral wards in the City of Nottingham. There is a local election every four years
when all 55 seats are contested. Councillors hold regular surgeries in their constituencies to which
members of the public are invited to attend if they have a particular concern which they feel their

Welcome to Basford!
The Basford Ward consists of approximately 6,700 residencies and
about 14,000 residents.
The Ward boundaries are:
Kersall Drive on the Highbury Vale estate and across open ground
to Cinderhill Road
From the Cinderhill Road island at the Gateway Hotel along Nuthall
Road as far as Western Boulevard.
From Western Boulevard along Wilkinson Street up to Radford Road
and along as far as Valley Road This area also takes in the NET Tram Depot and Basford gasworks.
The Ward then runs from Radford Road all the way along Valley Road
to the Hucknall Road island and then from the Hucknall Road island up to St Albans Road where the boundary
then joins up with Kersall Drive.
The Ward is home to a number of Council and private housing estates
which include:
The Old Highbury Vale estate, the Oakleigh estate, Rosegarth Walk
estate, Gayhurst Road estate, The Heathfield estate, the Whitemoor estate and the Stockhill estate,
which are all predominantly Council estates.
The Goldcrest estate, Willow Holt, Britannia Avenue, Greenwich Avenue
are just some of the private areas in the Ward.
Some of the major roads that run through the Ward are: Highbury Rd,
Vernon Road, Arnold Road, Southwark Street, Nottingham Road, Radford Road, David Lane, Mill Street,
Bar Lane, Bagnall Road, Heathfield Road, Stockhill Lane, which is home to the Stockhill Fire Station,
Basford Road, Harmston Rise, Ventnor Rise, Barlock Road, Heatherley Drive and Scotland Road.
The Ward also has the Vernon Park and Basford Library within its
boundaries, as well as the Heathfield Park.
Basford proudly has six tram stops within the Ward which are: Highbury
Vale (2), David Lane, Basford and Wilkinson Street and also the Cinderhill stop on the spur line.
Basford is also home to the Ellis Guildford School and Sports College,
Southwark Primary, Old Basford Primary, Heathfield Primary and Whitemoor Primary Schools.
