Area Committees - local democracy, local decision making in action
- To make Neighbourhood Management work for you as a citizen and for your neighbourhood we need to make it real, relevant and working effectively alongside the local Area Committee.
- Area Committees involve local councillors Councillors play a lead role as 'champions' for their areas and neighbourhoods. As elected representatives they can shape, influence and highlight local issues, policies and service standards.
- Nottingham's Area Committee and Neighbourhood Management structures will support this process, turning local representation into real decision making over local services, budgets and plans. Placing a focus on the neighbourhood will enhance the role of the Area Committee as a local democratic body, and the authority of the Neighbourhood Manager to get things done.
- Area Committees meet every two months. Representation includes local councillors, local tenants and residents, local area partnerships, voluntary and community organisations, health services, Police service, Fire & Rescue service, local businesses and other organisations.
