Civil wedding ceremonies

The Council House is now registered as a venue for civil wedding ceremonies and the Ballroom or Dining Room can be used for your wedding or commitment ceremony:

Please note that we only accept bookings for the actual wedding ceremony not receptions and you will also need to contact the Registrars office on Shakespeare Street, telephone 9475665 to confirm the Registrars attendance. Please click here to access their website for more information. Parking on the Council House forecourt is for the Bride’s car only.

Although we do not cater for wedding receptions you may, if you wish, hire the other room at an extra cost of £150 for a post ceremony champagne/canapes reception. Please note the the cost includes 2 serving staff, glasses, silver trays and table cloths. It does not include canapes and champagne - all we ask is that you use one of the caterers on our approved caterers list, which can be supplied on request.
