The role of the Deputy Lord Mayor

Role

• Provide a year's induction to the role of Lord Mayor to help prepare the individual for that civic role
• Deputise for the Lord Mayor in their absence
• Ensure that good relations are maintained with the local district and borough councils at a civic level

Key tasks

1. Attend meetings of the Council and when necessary chair those meetings
2. Attend appropriate district and borough council events to help maintain good relationships
3. Attend traditional civic events such as the Legal Service, Remembrance Sunday the Civic Service
