Nottingham’s Proud of You Awards are back for 2008. Once again we want to reward the stars in our communities and recognise the good work that they do.

If you know an individual or a group who has gone out of their way to make a positive contribution to Nottingham and its residents, then we would like to hear from you.

Please take a look at the award categories below, pick the appropriate award and complete the nomination form.

The award categories are:

Caring Award - in recognition of an individual who has made a significant contribution to improving the quality of life for someone for whom they provide substantial levels of care

Danielle Beccan Young Achiever Award - in recognition of a young person who has demonstrated an outstanding personal achievement and/or contributed to the quality of life in Nottingham

Good Neighbour Award - in recognition of an individual or group who has significantly improved the quality of life in their local neighbourhood

Green Champion Award - in recognition of an individual or group who has made a significant contribution towards improving the environment

Inspiration Award - in recognition of an individual or group who has made a significant contribution towards enriching life in the city

Boots Local Hero Award - in recognition of an individual or group who has made an outstanding contribution to community life or performed an act of bravery

Respect for Nottingham Award - in recognition of an individual or group who has dealt with the causes and consequences of crime and anti-social behaviour in their community

The closing date for nominations is 19 September 2008. An independent adjudication panel will be used to pick the winner for each category with the results being announced in October 2008. Nominations from all sections of the community are encouraged but the nominee must live within the Nottingham City Council boundary.
