What is a Local Involvement Network?
A Local Involvement Network (LINk) is made up of individuals, groups
and organisations who want to make health and social care services in their area better. It is important
that the LINk contains representatives from all sections of the community, in order to make sure it
can accurately represent local people's needs and concerns.
LINks are replacing Patient and Public Involvement Forums from April
2008.
What will a Local Involvement Network do?
Each LINk will be developing their own work plan and agenda to meet
local needs. However, some of their main roles will be to:
- Review the way health and social care services are provided
and hold providers to account
- Represent the views of local people to NHS trusts and social care organisations
within their area
- Pass information directly to Commissioners (Primary Care trusts, GPs and GP
clusters) and to health and social care providers (Foundation Trusts, NHS Trusts and Local Authorities).
- Make recommendations to the relevant NHS organisation, local authority or
Local Strategic Partnership (e.g. One Nottingham).
Who
is providing Nottingham's Local Involvement Network?

commissioned the Carers Federation to provide their Local Involvement Networks.
