Glade Business Centre

A new £1.1 million business centre on the edge of Nottingham’s Bestwood Estate has opened with ERDF support.  The Glade Business Centre has 14 office units, each providing 870 sq ft of accommodation, and associated car parking on a one-acre former landfill site.

The centre lies off Gala Way between the Gala Bingo club and the new food business park under construction next to Southglade Park.

The units have been developed by Nottingham City Council on council-owned land as a joint venture with the Bestwood Partnership and the One City Partnership. The two partnerships attracted funding for the project from the Single Regeneration Budget and the European Regional Development Fund.

The centre will be managed by the Council, with net profits from the operation of the site going to the Bestwood Partnership for reinvestment in local community projects.

Councillor Alan Clark, Executive Councillor for Development, Land and Regeneration, said: “The new business centre is an asset to the Bestwood area in more ways than one. The project has brought a vacant and rather problematic brownfield site back into constructive use, it will provide local job opportunities and its operation will help to fund other social and economic regeneration activity in the local community.”

The Glade Business Centre was designed by Nottingham architects Cox Freeman, and constructed by Allenbuild Ltd, whose head office is in Sandiacre.
