MEDIA 2007Creative and interactive projects wanted for MEDIA programme

1. Support for the development of on and offline interactive works

The objective of this call is to support the development of production projects intended for European and international markets. Eligible activities include the development of interactive programmes, software for computers, mobile phones and games consoles. Projects which also promote new software formats are also encouraged.

Co-financing is set at a maximum 50% (60% for projects promoting EU cultural diversity)

2. Support for the development of creative production projects

This call supports the development of drama, creative documentary and animation projects destined for European and international markets. Projects which promote European cultural diversity are also encouraged.

Co-financing is set at a maximum 50% (60% for projects promoting EU cultural diversity)

FP7 FP7 calls for proposals launched

The Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) is designed to support a wide range of participants: from universities, through public authorities to small enterprises and researchers in developing countries.  A series of Calls for Proposals under FP7 were recently launched.  

A list of all the Calls can be found on the Cordis FP7 website. The deadline for the majority of calls is early December or mid-January.

Europe DirectEurope Direct Information Networks

The European Commission Representation in the UK is looking for organisations to host public information centres across the UK known collectively as the “EUROPE DIRECT Information Network”. The overall aim of the EUROPE DIRECT Centres is that all citizens, from both rural and urban areas, may have easy access to information on all areas of the EU’s activities and, in particular, on how these affect their daily lives. The Centres will last for four years and will cover the period from April 2009 to March 2013.  Applications are welcome from private or public bodies.

A maximum of €25 000 may be awarded to each centre approved for support. Match funding is 50% of the total cost.  Deadline is 31 October 2008.  More information is available from the Europe Direct website.

Interreg IVCInterreg IVC seminar in Nottingham

14 November 2008, East Midlands Development Agency, Nottingham

Michel Lamblin, Executive Director of the INTERREG IVC Programme Secretariat will be the keynote speaker at a seminar timed to coincide with the launch of the second funding call under the IVC Programme. In addition to giving an overview of the Programme, Michel Lamblin will outline the lessons learned from the first funding call and provide an insight into what the Secretariat considers to be the characteristics of successful projects.

Lifelong Learning Information Day

Following on from the successful East Midlands European Office (EMEO) Lifelong Learning event held in February this year, the Office has secured the hosting of one of the National Information days on Lifelong Learning funding opportunities at the University of Leicester on the 12th November.

The Lifelong Learning Programme (LLP) is a European funding programme which supports education and training activities at school, at college, at university, in the workplace and in the community. At this event, organised by ECOTEC, the national Lifelong Learning agency, there will be workshops on the Leonardo da Vinci, Grundtvig and Transversal programmes. These programmes are geared towards vocational education and training, adult education and education planning.

2008 Call for LIFE+ proposals

LIFE+

LIFE is the EU’s financial instrument supporting environmental and nature conservation projects throughout the EU.

The 2008 call for proposals will be published on 15 July 2008 with a deadline of 21 November.

Applicants may wish to start preparing their proposals already, using the existing application forms and guidelines from the 2007 call. Those doing so should bear in mind that there will be some changes in the forms and guidelines that will be published on 15 July 2008.

Entrepreneurs to benefit from £3m fund

Enterprise LoansA new initiative pledging £3 million to help fuel economic growth in the East Midlands has been launched. The fund is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund and East Midlands Development Agency (emda).

EnterpriseLoans East Midlands is a new source of funding for business start ups and existing companies that have been turned away by conventional High Street lenders.

A Community Development Finance Institution Fund, EnterpriseLoans East Midlands, will be managed by First Enterprise Business Agency (FEBA) and provide loans of between £3,000 and £20,000.

FP7 FP7 support service launched

Framework Programme 7 (FP7) is the main financial support mechanism for research and development in the EU.  It can support R&D activities by universities, public authorities and businesses as well as individual researchers.

East Midlands Development Agency (emda) has now launched a new support service for bodies with ideas for R&D projects. The service will encourage increased regional participation in the programme through free information and advice, evaluation of project ideas, help with finding partners, and development of project proposals.

Workplace mobility plans award

The aim of the EU project COMMERCE (Creating Optimal Mobility Measures to Enable Reduced Commuter Emissions) is to facilitate the uptake of workplace mobility plans by establishing concrete partnerships between local authority actors and businesses across Europe, enabling mentoring and exchange of expertise. The ultimate goal of COMMERCE is to reduce excessive CO2 emissions in urban areas through the promotion of workplace mobility plans.

ECOMM - the European Conference on Mobility Management - and COMMERCE are working in partnership to deliver a newly launched Pan-European Workplace Mobility Plan Award. The Award was created to reward public authorities’ activities for reducing CO2 emission levels in their urban area.

The ‘Youth in the world’: programmes ofers funding for cooperation with countries other than the neighbouring countries of the European Union

This programme is looking to fund projects under the following themes:

  • Strengthening of civil society, citizenship and democracy
  • Fight against racism and xenophobia
  • Inter-ethnic and inter-religious dialogue
  • Post-conflict resolution and reconstruction
  • The active role of women in society
  • Minority rights

Total budget: € 2.5 million

Co-financing: max 80%

The Nottingham European Information Centre, and its host structure the Nottinghamshire Chamber of Commerce, have launched the the Business Opportunities Europe  (BOE) Bulletin

As part of their Business Cooperation Service, this bulletin will help companies locate trade partners, agents, trade intermediaries, etc in Europe and beyond. Issues will be updated bimonthly with new business profiles from potential overseas partners.
