Nottingham
City Council’s health and safety enforcement team have just updated their free Health and Safety Handbook,
designed to help employers, staff and the self-employed to comply with workplace health and safety laws.
The
new handbook gives advice on issues ranging from manual handling, slips and trips, display screen equipment
and workplace transport to staff welfare and stress.
Besides enforcing health
and safety laws, the team seek to work with city businesses to achieve high health and safety standards
through cooperation and partnership. They can also offer guidance on topics such as asbestos, hazardous
substances, electrical checks, first aid and risk assessments.
City Council
spokesman on health and safety Councillor Brian Grocock says: “Good health and safety practices do not
just happen by chance. They need to be managed just like any other aspect of business. This newly updated
handbook should help local businesses - and workers - to improve their standards of health and safety
in the workplace.”
For a free copy of the handbook or for more information,
businesses should contact the City Council’s Health and Safety Enforcement Section on 0115 915 6753
