We are responsible for enforcement of health and safety legislation in most service and retail premises within Nottingham City. We aim to protect people at work and those who may be affected by work activities by promoting and securing compliance with health, safety and welfare legislation and giving advice on best practice.

We promote improved standards of health and safety in the workplace by:

• Inspecting work activities on a planned, prioritised basis
• Investigating accidents
• Providing advice to employers, employees, their representatives and members of the public
• Organising specific health and safety initiative, including training which fits national strategies
• Investigating health and safety complaints
