A Sex Establishment Licence is required to be licensed under the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982.

A sex establishment licence can be a sex shop or a sex cinema.

When considering an application for a sex establishment licence the Council may only use the following:

1. the suitablity of the applicant
2. the location and suitability for the premises, e.g. proximity of schools and bus stops, etc
