The Scrap Metal Dealers Act 1964 requires scrap
metal dealers to furnish certain particulars of their business to the Council.
If
a dealer maintains a scrap metal store in this Council's area, they should apply for registration or,
if no store is maintained, they should register in either the area where they normally reside or where
they have a place wholly or partly occupied for the purposes of a scrap metal business.
The
Act also imposes obligations on scrap metal dealers to keep records of dealings and creates various
offences relating to the carrying on of a scrap metal business.
