Nottingham City Safeguarding Children Board is the key statutory mechanism for agreeing how the relevant member organisations in Nottingham will cooperate to safeguard children which includes protecting children from harm. The Board will regard this as its first priority.

Safeguarding Vulnerable Young People Seminar Friday 12th September
- This seminar will focus on have recently developed practice guidance covering the following areas.
- •Missing children
- •Self-harm
- •Safeguarding children from abroad
- In addition to the new practice guidance revisions have been made to existing practice guidance that covers children who are sexually exploited
- The purpose of this seminar is to promote awareness of the practice guidance and the issues that they seek to address.
- Target Group:
- This seminar is open to the key agencies responsible for delivering this function: Health, Police Social Care, Family Workers, Voluntary Sector and Community groups
- Please be aware that the Domestic Abuse course scheduled to run on 1st July has been CANCELLED and has now been rearranged for 21st October. If you had applied for this course then your application has been automatically updated.
- Please be aware that the Emotional Abuse Stage One course scheduled to run on 4th June has been CANCELLED and has now been rearranged to replace the Stage Two course on 11th September. Delegates who had been successful in their application have been automatically entered onto this new date.
- The new NCSCB Training Programme for 2008-2009 is now available. This details all courses the NCSCB are running for the new training year. To apply for a course complete the application form contained within and return to the NCSCB Training Administrator
- There are places still available for Safeguarding Board Training courses in July please see the attached flyer for further details and how to apply.
- A new national helpline for victims of forced marriage and honour based violence is now up and running. Called the "Honour Network", the dedicated helpline is run by the charity Karma Nirvana, which helps survivors of honour crimes and forced marriages. The phone line is staffed by volunteers who understand what victims are going through and is staffed from 9.00 a.m. to 9.00 p.m. Anybody who feels they need help can call the helpline on 0800 5999 247. The helpline has been launched with the support of the Government's Forced Marriage Unit.
The NCSCB Child Protection Procedures were updated in 2007 to reflect changes in "Working Together to Safeguard Children 2006" The revised procedures are available for you to download, and replace Section 5 of the "Inter-agency Guidance on the Assessment of Children in Need, and the ACPCs Child Protection Procedures".
