The City has two Household Waste and Recycling Centres that the public can use for household rubbish:

North of the City:

South of the City:
Lenton Household Waste & Recycling Centre
Redfield Road
Lenton Lane Industrial Estate (near the Showcase Cinema)

The primary role of Household Waste & Recycling Centres is to take the public's overspill waste that will not fit into their wheeled bins.

Both sites offer collection points for the following household waste:

• Bric-a-brac
• Cans
• Cardboard
• Car batteries
• Cookers
• Washing machines
• Garden waste
• Gas cylinders
• General waste
• Glass
• Fridges
• Hardcore
• Newspapers/Magazines
• Oil Metal
• Plastic bottles
• Textiles
• Wood

The site also deals with the de-gassing of fridges and freezers.

Using the Household Waste Centre

These sites can be very popular at weekends and bank holidays through the summer, please follow the guidelines below:

• Please carry out the site staff's instructions. It is in everybody's interest to pass through the site as quickly and simply as possible.
  
  
• Please wait for your turn at the relevant skip.
  
  
• The sites cannot accept waste from businesses or commercial properties and staff are well within their rights to turn people away who they suspect fall into these categories.
  
  
• There is a limit to the amount of rubble that will be accepted. This is restricted to a couple of small bags of soil, a handful of bricks or a couple of slabs. Abuse of this could result in eviction from the site.

The opening times for both sites are:
