Welcome to the City of Nottingham Registration Service

Did you know that we provide other services than registering births, deaths and marriages?

Check out the following:

Nottingham Register Office offer new service to customers

From 8 September 2008, you can register your baby's birth at Broxtowe and Aspley SureStart centres. Just come along to Broxtowe's Bump & baby session between 1.30 and 3.30 or Aspley's Tiny Tots between 10 and 12.00, no appointment is necessary.

We also offer a full-time registration service at Nottingham City Hospital and Queens Medical Centre. To register a birth or death at either hospitals or at the Register Office an appointment will need to be made.

New parents can register their baby's birth while still in hospital and bereaved relatives can register a death without having to travel to the city register office. Bookings can be made through the hospital bereavement centres or by calling the office on 0115 9475665.

The Registration Service in England and Wales started in July 1837 and is one of the oldest services administered by local authorities.

The principal functions of the Service are:-

  • To authorise civil and non-conformist marriage and conduct civil marriage ceremonies and Civil Partnerships;

  • To furnish the Registrar General and Local Authorities with regular returns of births, marriages and deaths for vital work on population statistics and medical research.
