Bulwell Hall Park (Bulwell Hall Meadows)

Bulwell Hall Park is located five miles northwest of the city centre and offers the public the opportunity to “experience the countryside” with open grassland in an inner city urban area. The meadows cover approximately five hectares, but are considered very important, as they are characteristic of the Magnesium Limestone geological formation, which extends northwards from Nottingham to Durham. The area is considered the most southerly site of Magnesian Limestone grassland in England and in Nottinghamshire .This habitat is rare and highly fragmented with most remaining sites being small and often associated with steep slopes. This LNR also incorporates beautiful walks through ancient woodlands and a pond, which is home to many aquatic plants and is a regular breeding site for mute swans, moorhens and coots. Local residents fish the ponds regularly.
