Free Workshops - Lantern and costumes

Free workshops to make lanterns and costumes for Old Market Square opening procession

Free drop-in workshops to make costumes and lanterns that will be carried in the Old Market Square’s opening procession on will be taking place at the old Beatties shop on Mount Street.

For adults and children alike, everyone is encouraged to roll up their sleeves, get creative and make their own contribution to the Opening Spectacular on Saturday 24 March 2007.

All workshops are free and there is no need to book. Sessions will be held at the old Beatties Shop, Mount Street, Nottingham, NG1 6HF on the 17 and 18 March, when sessions will run from 11.30 am – 1.30 pm and 2.30 pm – 4.30 pm.

All materials will be provided but please bear in mind that these activities may be messy! We will look after the items made until the parade day but after the event, people will be able to keep what they have made (we may need to remove any battery packs that have been used to light up lanterns).

Parents and carers should note that children under twelve must be accompanied by an adult and the activity is not suitable for children under eight.

The venue is fully accessible for wheelchair users (however please note there are no disabled toilet facilities).

People who are interested in taking part and would like more information should call the Nottingham City Council Arts and Events team on 0115 915 8604.
