Nottingham City has a historic network of open and green spaces with over 20%
of the City's total land area made up of accessible, open and green spaces.
These spaces are designed for recreation and enjoyment as well as contributing
to the environment and aesthetics.

The majority of theses spaces are public parks, natural spaces, green
corridors, allotments, cemeteries and sports grounds.
Nottingham City Council manages, cares for and develops these spaces.

Parks & Gardens**

Parks and Gardens

Nottingham City Council looks after 136 parks and gardens across the city which range from large tourist attractions such as the impressive Arboretum Park through to the smaller neighbourhood parks. Our aim is to offer a wide range of quality attractions that entice visitors to the City and that are accessible, attractive and useful to residents such as family groups, individuals, school groups, the voluntary sector and sporting organisations for informal recreation and community events.

Children's and Young People's Play Areas

Nottingham City Council places great importance in providing a wide range of opportunities for play and development for ages 0-18. Equipped or unequipped play areas, ball courts, skateboard areas and teenage shelters are just some of the facilities that are incorporated into the design of areas for children and young people to encourage play and social interaction.

Outdoor Sports Facilities**

Bookable Outdoor Sports Facilities

Nottingham City Council provide a wide variety of outdoor sports facilities some that host national or major events through to local neighbourhood facilities. These include football, tennis, bowls, athletics, croquet and fishing. Our aim is to provide high quality sporting facilities with emphasis on providing a range of opportunities for able bodied and disabled adults, young people, and children.

Allotments**

Allotments

Welcome to Nottingham City Council Allotments.
Allotments provide people with the opportunity to grow their own produce such as fruit, flowers, and vegetables and promote sustainability, health and social inclusion. It can provide an interesting hobby that can help to improve cardiovascular health and lower stress levels. Nottingham City Council currently manage 3300 allotment plots spread over 50 locations and boasts the largest and oldest site in Britain at the St Ann's Allotments.

Amenity Green Spaces

Amenity Green Spaces refers to the supplementary open green spaces that enhance the appearance of the City, for example, verges, roundabouts and housing estate greens. These spaces provide opportunities for biodiversity through wildlife link sites as well as for informal activities such as jogging, dog walking and children's play close to home.
