Nottingham City has a historic network of open and green spaces with over 20% of the City's total land area made up of accessible, open and green spaces. These spaces are designed for recreation and enjoyment as well as contributing to the environment and aesthetics.
Nottingham has gained a record number of Green Flags & Pennants this year. The city now has 15 Green Flags for parks, nature reserves and even a cemetery. In addition, 11 community-run green spaces have achieved Community Green Flag Awards.
Park Rangers
The Park Rangers Service work with schools, community groups and friends groups to encourage people to enjoy and learn from the city's parks and open spaces. Our service is available to all.
The Ranger Services works with Schools across Nottingham to help develop and educate our young people - our work compliments school programmes and the national curriculum. Sessions generally take place outdoors at one of our parks and are quite active, involving the whole group in hands-on activities. Lessons within the school can be organised but may incur a small charge to cover materials and travel.
For community and friends groups we organise events and activities including healthy walks, heritage walks, rambles, tours of Woodthorpe Tropical House and visits to Green Flag parks. We can also work with you to support your own events.
